Charlie Harris Releases A Moving Tribute Inspired by the World’s Most Famous Space Dog
Charlie Harris, the singer-songwriter known for his deeply personal storytelling and cinematic folk sound, returns with a powerful new single titled Laika. The track pays tribute to the first dog sent into space — a story that has long resonated with Charlie, both as an artist and lifelong dog lover.
Laika was a Soviet space dog and the first living creature to orbit the Earth aboard Sputnik 2 on November 3, 1957. A stray from Moscow, she was chosen for her calm demeanor and small size for a, ultimately, one-way mission. She died within hours of launch from overheating and panic, rather than the planned day.
Charlie commissioned some unique illustrations to tell the story in a touching music video.
“I’ve always been a dog lover, so the story of Laika completely captured my imagination,” says Charlie. This time around he is working with prolific producer Kevin Leicher and the sound is a double dose of sound and energy, charging up the emotions.
In normal Charlie fashion, there will be an array of new songs coming out this year, so save his social media on the link below.
Laika is available now on all major streaming platforms here.
