André The Hilarious Hypnotist, one of South Africa’s funniest entertainers, is a firm favourite on the Johannesburg theatre scene each year-end!
André The Hilarious Hypnotist has been dishing out his brand of hilarious hypnotic entertainment for the past 32 years. Having launched to fame in 1994 at the Victory Theatre in Johannesburg, André’s four-week season turned into a 11 week tour de force. From there André went on to tour across South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Australia setting attendance records wherever he performed.
André combines his skills in comedy and hypnosis to create a 2-hour show of side splitting entertainment suitable for all ages. Celebrating 32 amazing years on stage as South Africa’s very own convenor of the strange weird and wonderful, having discovered his hypnotic calling after watching a performance of the late Max Collie in action, André promises even more fun and laughter this year round!
André takes his volunteers on a hilarious hypnotic journey in which they imagine they are sprinklers, dinosaurs, washing machines, Superman and Mrs South Africa, with Michael Jackson and Christina Aguilera added for good measure. This fast paced fun show features your neighbours, friends and family in a hilarious evening of entertainment in which you could be the star! No two shows are ever the same as the shows strength lies in the fact that every night’s volunteers are completely different, leading to a diverse hilarious action-packed evening performance. With every person reacting differently to André’s suggestion, not even André knows what to expect when he steps up on stage.
André who was trained by the late Max Collie brings a healthy dose of comedy to his one man show and with no two shows ever being the same André’s show has people returning night after night. With the snap of his fingers André turns the hypnotised volunteers into washing machines, typewriters, moon men and even a baywatch lifeguard and that is just some of the hilarious routines performed under André’s hypnotic control.
André the Hilarious Hypnotist is quick to assure people watching the show that he only uses volunteers when presenting the show. No person will be forced to be part of the performance but for those who do decide to brave the stage, they are guaranteed five minutes of fame as André makes them the stars of every performance.
André says:
